Last week, the Church Times had a news article by Ed Beavan Report urges Church to face up to its bullies.

This report has to be seen in the wider context. Lesbian, gay , bisexual and transgendered people and their supporters are bullied and oppressed by many with power in the Anglicans Churches. Fact. Gene Robinson and indeed TEC are being bullied (unsuccessfully). The whole Windsor-‘Covenant’ thing is an exercise in bullying. Robinson isn’t even invited to Lambeth –some listening process ! Look at how lgbt clery and ordinands are treated in the C of E these days. This and more is the context. I am sorry for the anglican bullies. I was myself bullied by arrogant, self-righteous conservative bullies. I love them deeply but the trauma they put me through had me signed off work. I don’t agree with bullying, it is against what Jesus teaches. He tells us NOT to judge, NOT to cast stones, however, he also stands up and says when sin is sin, mostly to the religious teachers actually.
