In February, the Dar es Salaam Communique from the Primates of the Anglican Communion created uncertainty in the Episcopal Church about what individuals or bodies had the authority to respond to the Primates’ recommendations. The Episcopal Church’s response has been made, but the nature of authority in our Church remains poorly understood. The Bishop of Lexington’s talk is well-written, though the text does refer to “the ascension of Mary”. If it is the earthly queen, rather than our heavenly one, I suppose it should read “accession”…
