The final communique is delayed by several hours. The latest information is that a press conference will be held at 11 pm Tanzanian time, or 8 pm London time.
Meanwhile the Church Times has published Primates’ meeting ends.

Still, things look better for the American and Canadian Church than we expected only two weeks ago.
And I know that I shouldn’t, really, but I couldn’t resist posting a song for the traditionalists over on my own blog. And yes, after weeks of reading how the awful liberals and wicked gays and lesbians and upity ordained women were going to get what was coming in Tanzania, it is time for a song.

How did Petre put it? “A rump of hardline conservatives.” This may be a normal Britishism, but it looks awfully funny to American eyes (along with the unintentional but inescapable image of primates). Yet one more instance of the militants hindering forward progress and blaming anyone but themselves (if the proposed covenant can be considered forward progress, which I think is debateable.)
Interesting to read reports on Daily Episcopalian that Peter Akinola is the only primate unwilling to sign the communique. Perhaps it will be necessary to establish a Convocation of Anglicans in NigeriA (CANA) to provide alternative episcopal oversight to those out of step with their Archbishop’s divisive action. Presumably the Rt Rev will have no objections?
