ABC Church will survive gay Bishop divide: Primate and transcript of interview with Peter Carnley
The Australian Primates rethink split from church reports that the primates who disagree with the consecration of Bishop Gene Robinson wil not secede from the Anglican Communion:
The primates’ spokesman, Nigerian arch-conservative archbishop Peter Akinola, said “What that means is that we can no longer claim to be in the same communion and those bishops will not be recognised by us any more. We have come to the end of the road,” he said.
While the words were strong, and reflected a theological split, they allow for the communion to, essentially, remain intact.
