‘Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.’ Would that the gay men already consecrated as Bishops in the C. of E. would be honest and come out! As an expat Brit I am ashamed of my church!

What an exhaustive and exhausting waste of a good read! And think of the paper that will be used up to weigh down the Synod Members. This circumlocution required to dance around the prospect of ‘Alternative Oversight’ is a blot upon the Church of England and its polity. If this is the sort of carry-on that will be required for the Church of England to nail down the support of the anti-women-bishop remnant, then it has been a complete and utter waste of time – and nothing less than a surrender to the hypocrisy of belief that a diocesan bishop… Read more »

These are really interesting. Although the list is very long, it seems largely preoccupied with two major amendments that would, I hope, fail almost immediately as reversing the express will of Synod in the last three years. Once these are gone, it seems to me the Archbishops’ amendment is the main remaining text, and therein lies the battle.

Congratulations to Miranda Threlfall-Holmes for having the foresight to put a sunset clause on the whole matter. 40 years – wow.

I await the result with hope that the C of E might see sense at last and make a decision.
