There seem to be no shortage of candidates – June, Vivienne, Jane, Rachel and Lucy being the obvious front runners but which diocese will be the first to install the premier female bishop in its cathedra? That is presuming the first will be a diocesan and not a suffragan. “O tidings of comfort and joy” for some but “In the bleak mid winter” for others.
Encouraging to see another woman appointed to a senior post in the C of E this past week – Rev Dr Emma Ineson as Principal of Trinity College, Bristol.
