the Church press gets in on the act

Friday’s Church of England Newspaper, already available on its website, has plenty of coverage in its news section, with summaries of the report itself, and how it has been received by various groups.

There is comment from Andrew Carey, who gives his opinion on the likely sucess of the Eames Commission.

And don’t miss Ruth Gledhill’s comments starting with her experience of trying to ask ECUSA PB Frank Griswold a question.

Ruth Gledhill asks if Bp. Griswold and/or the EC will ever ordain a gay man to the bishopric again. (Or maybe she asks if he had it to do over again, would he do it — a more insidious question) The question is entirely premature and the answer is not really up to him.

Perhaps she’s really asking will the EC ever elect a gay bishop again and will that election get sufficient consents so that the question of a consecration and the associated international effects is again upon us. The question has no answer outside of a crystal ball.

I commend to Andrew Carey and Ruth Gledhill, for their edification, the interview with N.T. Wright in Christianity Today, which TA links in another posting: (http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2004/142/42.0.html).

Bishop Wright has a much better understanding on the subject of episcopal border crossings that the two reporters do.
