In an earlier article, I linked to an article in the Church Times by Jonathan Clark explaining why The C of E is losing its own history.
More recently, Brian Crowe wrote in the Church of Ireland Gazette in response to that, the article was titled The embarrassment of history? Restoring proper confidence in our Anglican past.
That article can be read in full here.
Brian Crowe: “The history of Anglicanism is marred by the sin of repression – and redeemed by the pain of periodic exclusion.”
I emphatically DISAGREE w/ the above (whether its Anglicanism’s history, or anyone else’s).
The “sin of repression” is redeemed by REPENTANCE, and RECONCILIATION w/ the repressed.
It is NOT redeemed in a comparative “I’m more victimized than you were (by me)!” Blame Game.
Lord have mercy!
