I think that Bishop Winston is a great addition to your shared primacy in the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and the Pacific. One day perhaps +Winston’s voice and wisdom will be heard at Primates Meeting. He will assuredly extend a hand of peace and true Christianity to the primates of the Global South, but he will vehemently oppose their unchristian homophobia towards GLBT folks. He is a Doctor of Sociology. A dangerous breed, that lot, especially as clergy who hold great responsibility!

He contributed an excellent chapter about GLBT folks in Oceania, skip to chapter three.

Bishop (recently elected Archbishop) Winston Halapua who has been newly-elected head of the Diocese of Polynesia, and co-presiding Archbishop of the 3-Tikanga Anglican Church of NZ/Aotearoa and Pacifica, is a Doctor of Sociology who knows something of Polynesian Customs and has studied… Read more »
