Good to see something positive coming out of this synod with the accepting of the motion regarding elections to the House of Laity. I hope that those doing the review will consult those who are not themselves currently electors to the House of Laity in order to inform their deliberations as to how to make the House more resresentative of the church at large.

Further to my previous comment there are other considerations which the enquiry ought to be looking at. A wider electorate to the House of Laity must mean that those who are to elect must be much better informed about the views and record of those who are to be elected. This might well mean that there will need to be better and more comprehensive manifestos and election addresses; membership of clubs, societies and organisations should be disclosed and there should be the opportunity to quiz the candidates on their views.
