Diverse Church makes a film: Christian It Gets Better

Loved that film. The generation that is the future of the Church. Admittedly they come across as kind of middle-class, but I think they are honest and decent, and they spoke very clearly about the damage the Church can cause, but also the hope and the future they see, *in* the Church. This is such a different message to the stereotypical portrayal of the Church as the enemy of LGBT people. Much still needs to change, but the younger generation is already changing, because they live in society, which is undergoing a change in generational attitudes. Loved the ending too,… Read more »

Inspiring vid! The only hope of gay relationships and equal marriage being accepted in the church lies with affirming evangelicals. The stumbling block is that, at present, affirming evos are swiftly marginalized by the wider movement. The block may soon fall. Disappointingly, only young people who are white and native British / Irish have a voice here. It’s not a very ‘diverse’ church in the British multicultural context.

I like the brimming confidence that UK Christian churches are becoming even more welcoming, and that within 10 years LGBT couples will be able to marry in a Church of England building and officially, before an Anglican vicar.

Diverse Church is a relatively young and new movement. It will be great to have other voices than White/British join us in time. But don’t forget those from other cultures where there is oppression may be involved but not in a position to speak out publicly.
