Here is the statement issued by the new primate after her election (which also deals with the earlier vote on the marriage canon).
I am delighted that Linda has been elected Primate. she is a quiet, careful and confident person with the ability to listen. I would have been delighted if Jane had been elected as well. Such different characters, but both wonderful people.
I couldn’t be happier that Linda has been elected as our new primate. I’m also not sad that in the Diocese of Edmonton we’ll get to keep Jane as our bishop!
