I think Colin is arguing for Anticipatory Faith. I am not convinced. I think all three have equal merit.

Re: Pray Tell/James Hadley and point # 1 in the article (below). Culture does not determine a reading of Scripture nor does a reading of Scripture determine culture. Rather there is a reciprocity of sorts between the two always and everywhere in religion. The majority of The Communion may indeed be fundamentalist or quasi-fundamentalist, including American culture warriors. However, there are solid examples of post colonial readings of scripture from Africa, India and Latin America. As for Richard Hooker, Diarmaid MacCulloch has an interesting take on him. The geographical description ‘Global South’, headlining the claims of the GSFA group – as Phil Groves points out – can be quite misleading, Both, my country, Aotearoa/New Zealand and Australia, are situated in the global South, but neither Anglican Province (as official Anglican Churches) have any official connection with the GSFA. The only tincture of Gafcon/GSFA alliance in our part of the G.S. could be easily traced, fairly and squarely, to the Con/Evo Diocese of Sydney – which is so far from the ‘Unity in Diversity’ ethos of the Anglican Communion as to distinguish it clearly from the rest of… Read more »
Here is the very latest news from the Australian saga of schismatic differentiation – as demonstrated in this interesting video – recorded after the recent meeting of the quasi-Anglican ‘Anglican Church League’, an organisation now dedicated to the establishment of a ‘Diocese of the Southern Cross’, which will be earthed in a small ex-Anglican parish from the Brisbane Diocese, called Beenleigh, whose parish priest – because of his bravery on ‘Coming Out’ as anti-gay (and ready to go along with the Sydney Gafconites) ought really to have been welcomed as its first bishop.
