Talk about burying bad news!

During the last couple of days so many TA contributers have been only directing their thoughts, views, on ABC pending and then actual resignation. May I contribute here. Over the years I have appreciated many opportunities to visit Winchester Cathedral for services, concerts etc. Well done to Dean Catherine for maintaining and developing the tradition with open door hospitality.

Dean Catherine was a warm. wise and welcoming Dean. One of the best. She will be missed when she goes but I don’t blame her for going… just before the report into the Winchester Music bullying scandal is made public. I am sure she is not to blame, but it did happen on her watch. Timing is everything- in music and in the church – just saying!

She was light during the pandemic. I loved watching online. I still kept up until I heard the news of the music situation. Former director had a wonderful program. Sad situation.

It is indeed a sad situation. It is much to be hoped that the Precentor will soon follow the Dean out of the door.
